Robert Eaton, Creative Director at Russell Eaton salons in Leeds and Barnsley, has been announced as a nominee for HJ’s coveted British Hairdresser of the Year title, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional.
Despite his previous industry successes, this is the first time Robert has been nominated for what can only be described as the ultimate accolade within the hair industry. Robert joins a start-studded line up of the country’s best known and loved hairdressers, who will now compete for the title of HJ’s British Hairdresser of the Year 2019.
Robert’s carer started in 1996 when he joined his father, Russell Eaton, in the family’s Barnsley salon as an apprentice. Robert’s skills and dedicated saw him rapidly rise to become one of the most respected names in the hairdressing industry. Robert opened the family’s second salon, in Leeds, in 2012 which has become a destination salon and spa offering the ultimate hair and beauty experience. The Eaton family have been in hairdressing for over 40 years, with Robert regularly working alongside his award-winning sister, Isobel Eaton.
To be judged for the title of HJ’s British Hairdresser of the Year, Robert must now create a hair collection that showcases his technical expertise, creative flair and overall artistic vision. These images will be judged in September with the winner being announced at the awards ceremony to be held at Grosvenor House Hotel, London, in November 2019.
Commenting on his nominations, Robert said, “This is the biggest award in hairdressing, and I am so honoured to have been nominated for it. For my peers to look at my work and see its value, is an incredible feeling – in truth, I can’t stop smiling. Thank you to them and I cannot wait to start developing my 2019 collection for the judges; a big task but also a brilliant one.”

A bit about the process: Nominated by their peers on their professional reputation, vision and trend setting skills as well as their ability to promote and be an ambassador for British hairdressing across the globe.
What they do next: Create a representative collection of their work which will be judged in September 2019 by up to 100 of their peers along with hair and beauty journalists and influencers.
When will the winner be revealed? The title of HJ’s British Hairdresser of the Year has been significant in the journeys of many hairdressing household names including: Trevor Sorbie, John Frieda, Anthony Mascolo, Nicky Clarke, Charles Worthington, Beverley C and Andrew Barton. We shall find out who joins this elite bastion of hairdressers at this year’s British Hairdressing Awards on 25th November 2019 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, a JW Marriott Hotel.
